Painting gas tank – 10/10/15

Ethan had a friend help him paint the gas tank with green primer on 10/9.  That took about 3 hours to rough it up with scotchbrite pads and paint.

He brought over the gas tank  on 10/10 and we spent an hour doing riveting and looking at some lime buildup inside of the tank.  We’re thinking that is from our pressure test when we had water in the tank.

Also, we weighed the hull and it was 84 lbs.  This is a 2008 C-hull, carbon fiber kevlar.  We’re going to weigh it after painting the inside and again after painting the outside.

This is the connector for testing the landing gear.

The abbreviations for up and down are not too helpful in this situation

as they are reversible.

Ethan scanned in some parts to investigate building them with a different material.

Testing the corrosion spray to see if it runs out of the tube via gravity. It does.

This is a pic of the inside of the gas tank.  The tube sticking up must be made of a different material that attracts calcium/lime buildup from our water test.  That will be difficult to clean as the inside of the tank is not accessible other than a 2 inch hole.
