Covering and Painting of Wings, Flaps and Ailerons – October/December 2017

On October 3, 2017 we brought in our flaps and ailerons to get covered.
First we had to do some final work on them.  We also saw our finished wings for the first time!

Jet crazy glue work

This aileron tube was from the classic ailerons so it needed to be trimmed with the dremel.

Here’s how much we cut off.

Now it fits right!

Here’s an improved part that we ordered: 5320-019 Spar Yoke Leading Edge Assy LSA
The old part consisted of 2 pieces, this is stronger!

Here are our finished wings!  If you hire an A&P to cover them then they get done fast – like magic.
We used Johnson Brothers Flying Service who did a great job!

Now make the flaps and ailerons look just like the wings!

And here’s a pic from 10/16/17 where they were covered thru pink.

And a couple more pics from 11/14/17

And the flaps and ailerons are painted as of 11/18/17.

Here’s the first wing on 11/22/17.  It needs one more coat of paint, then the second wing will get painted.

We brought the wings home to a friend’s hangar on 12/22/17.  Another ride in a U-Haul!
