We worked on attaching the right wingtip today. This seemed like a more difficult thing, perhaps because it was different
in terms of needing to measure very carefully and not wanting to ruin an expensive wing tip.
Specifically, estimating where the wing rib is when you can’t tell for sure is time consuming. You need to drill through the
fiberglass wing tip and hit the 1/2 inch tube precisely in the middle. Our holes are not all exactly in the middle but none missed
which is good.
Taping on the wing cuff spacer tube. Any half inch tube works.
Wing tip is initially held on with a ratchet strap
Clearance between wingtip and aileron is 1/8 inch.
Nobody will see that extra hole which was drilled when the wingtip was not positioned right.
We only own about 50 copper colored clecoes. I think the guys who build aluminum planes need more than that. 🙂
Looking inside the wingtip. We could put the radio antenna in there.
We also need to put the wires for wingtip lights in there.
Starting to look more like a wing every day!
